On my third day
of project I walked into Luna like an actual employee. After only three days I feel much more
knowledgeable and comfortable. For the
first two days I mainly did baking, except for shredding the cheese. Today was completely different. I walked in assuming I would be helping with
a cookie recipe or frosting cookies; however, I spent the morning with
vegetables. First I cut the core out of
tomatoes. I nearly cut my finger off and
was scared the entire time. Thankfully
the employees were very helpful and showed me what I was doing wrong and told
me that I would for sure cut off my finger if I kept doing it the way I
was. It took me over an hour to do all
the tomatoes, which shocked me. After I
cut out the core and cut them in half I had to gut them. Meaning I had to take out the seeds and
everything in the tomato. It took me
forever. I was working right next to one
of the younger works at Luna and he did his twice as fast as I did. We joked about it and it made me feel a lot
more comfortable. After the tomatoes I
tried to get into baking but I was lured back to the vegetables. I took the insides out of mushrooms and then
I cubed mozzarella cheese. All of that
took me three and a half hours. By the
end of it I was dead tired. So I took a
lunch break which is always fun because I get free lunch! In the afternoon I
scaled a recipe and frosted cookies. The
afternoon was pretty basic, but by the end of the day I desperately needed a
nap.
What you should do
# 1. Post a blog 3 times a week (M, W & F) of at least 200 words. In your blogs you could:
-describe something you learned
-explain something that surprised you
-give an update about stuff you're working on
-explain how you solved a problem
-tell a cool story
Also include images, sounds or video from your project.
# 2. Respond thoughtfully to another blogger's posts on this site. Post 1 of these response-blogs per week (200 or more words each).
Each of you is expected to contribute to this blog--even if you're working with another student or with a group.
I'm really looking forward to following your project via your postings! Have fun!
